Nuclear energy advocates can add their voice on the topic of climate change

Blog Action Day, Oct 15th, is an annual event that unites the world's bloggers in posting about the same issue on the same day on their own blogs with the aim of sparking discussion around an issue of global importance.

Blog Action Day 2009 will be the largest-ever social change event on the web. One day. One issue. Thousands of voices.

Climate change affects us all and it threatens more than the environment. It threatens to cause famine, flooding, war, and millions of refugees.

Given the urgency of the issue of climate change and the upcoming international climate negotiations in Copenhagen this December, the blogosphere has the unique opportunity to mobilize millions of people around expressing support for finding a sustainable solution to the climate crisis.

You are encouraged to write on your blog about climate change in the context of how it relates to the topic of your blog.

Nuclear energy bloggers have plenty of opportunities to participate in this event. Nuclear energy is a carbon emission free source of base load power. That's a terrific topic and springboard for action related to the event. Please think about writing your own blog post on this issue.

As of October 9th, more than 5,200 blogs, including this one, are participating representing over 10 million readers. You can stay in touch through, of course, a blog about Blog Action Day.

A Technology or Business blog might write about emerging clean tech and how innovative companies might be able to help address the problem of climate change.

A Nonprofit or Political blog might write about how climate change is deeply connected to many other issues - such as poverty and conflict.

A Design blog might write about new trends in eco-friendly or sustainable design.

First and last, the purpose of Blog Action Day is to create a discussion. The idea is for bloggers to take a single day out of their schedule and focus it on an important issue.

By doing so on the same day, the blogging community effectively changes the conversation on the web and focuses audiences around the globe on that issue.

From the smallest online journals to huge online magazines, Blog Action Day is about mass participation. Anyone is free to join in on Blog Action Day and there is no limit on the number of posts, the type of posts or the direction of thoughts and opinions.
